For entry and mid-range falconry gauntlets, split cowhide or cow suede is the normal starting point because it gives thickness, reasonable puncture resistance and lower cost. A practical specification is 1.2 mm to 1.6 mm split cowhide on the cuff and back, with a smoother grain or suede palm depending on the grip preference. Do not oversell this as certified anti-puncture protection against talons, because that would be misleading. On quality control, an AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects is a reasonable shipment benchmark for leather sewn goods, but define major defects carefully: wrong hand orientation, cuff length out of tolerance by more than 1 cm, open seams, severe colour mismatch and oil-stained leather should all be written into the inspection checklist.

Price is driven mainly by leather grade, thickness, cuff length, reinforcement layers and whether you order a simple brown suede style or a presentation-grade private label line. In broad terms, basic falconry gauntlets in split cowhide from China can sit in the low single-digit US dollar range per piece on FOB terms, while cleaner goatskin or hybrid builds with better finishing and retail packaging move higher quickly. Exact numbers vary with leather market swings, but buyers should expect meaningful cost differences between 1.2 mm split cowhide and softer selected goatskin. Packing is straightforward but worth planning. Long cuffs consume carton volume, so the freight cost per piece is less efficient than compact work gloves. Ask for flat-packed dimensions and carton counts before confirming the order. Under FOB Ningbo or FOB Shanghai, your forwarder can compare cubic metres against air or sea options, but for this category sea freight usually makes more sense unless the shipment is small and seasonal. If you need hangtags, barcode stickers, swing labels or plain kraft gift boxes, confirm whether these are packed at the factory or by a separate packing contractor. For most buyers, the sensible route is a robust leather gauntlet, simple private label packaging and a field-tested pattern rather than chasing too many decorative details on the first run.
